My work is rarely planned. I usually start with a  treated canvas and a wash of color, then add paint and shapes with a brush, pallet knife, or even an old credit card. I add more layers until I feel satisfied, or I let it sit out in the open until I get the inspiration to add to it. When this happens, I act quickly, or else the idea is lost. I believe my creativity is a reflection of my living day to day with a debilitating disease. Some days surprise me with extreme energy while others knock me down with fatigue and uncertainty. The end result of each painting is unexpected, which is the story of my life. I hope you enjoy my so-called art.

Artist statement

My name is Diane and I am a self-taught acrylic and mixed media artist based in southern New Hampshire. My style is primarily abstract, using shapes and colors inspired by elements in nature. As a person living with Multiple Sclerosis for more than 25 years, I have found art to be a source of therapy. Creating brings joy into my daily life, and I hope that my work can bring joy to others.
